The Start Of A New a Term

We have started thinking about our new topic in Reception of Once Upon A Time which is based around Traditional Tales.

On Wednesday we had a topic morning to introduce the first traditional tale we are going to be learning about….Little Red Riding Hood.

Our morning was themed all about the colour RED!

We painted red picture, red playdough, red drawing, blowing strawberry bubbles, exploring red treasure bags, exploring red jelly, building with red bricks, and counting red ladybirds…

To infinity… and beyond! Nursery’s topic morning.

Today we introduced our new topic ‘To infinity… And beyond!’ We spent the morning on a mission to space! We watched a real NASA rocket launch, went on a space experience, discussed things that do and don’t live in space, made a topic map based on what the children would like to do and spent time in our new role play area, where we wrote under tables like astronauts, explored light and dark and drove a spaceship through space!

Lastly, we started to make our very own Nursery robot! We worked as a team to make the robot’s head and body and talked about how to use the equipment we needed safely. We are all very excited about our new topic, we will keep you updated with what we do!

Amazing Art

Since October year 3 and 4 have spent two afternoons a week with our lovely artist Mrs Guildford. The children have developed and used a range of skills over the last few weeks to be able to create fantastic art work. The children’s work was based on the topic we have done in class which of course last term was ‘The Stone Age’.

Today Libby, Vaughan, Rory and Aly spent time with Mrs Guildford putting all of their work together in the entrance hall to make a wonderful display. Here are some of the pictures of the display, please do call in to have a look if you get a spare moment as it really is brilliant to see the hard work these children have been doing over the last few months.
