Wear it Wild Friday

We had some fantastic costumes today! This morning we did our daily ‘wake up, shake up’ to ‘Bear Necessities’. We also talked about the different endangered species we were dressed as and used a map to work out where in the world they were predominantly found.

Have a lovely half term!

Fantastic Flowers.

Flowers are not just pretty petals and pollen. This afternoon we dissected our flower and found out that they are actually made up of lots of different parts.

Once we had dissected the flower, we labelled the different parts.

Next we are going to find out what each part does.

Amazing Autumn!

Since September in Nursery the children have been finding out about the changes to the environment in the season of Autumn.

The children have been in the outdoor area finding out about the different changes that occur.

Once we had collected lots of leaves we brought them back inside and used paint to make leaf print pictures.

We have also looked at the different patterns on the trees and made bark rubbings using wax crayons.

Today, we have had lots of fun describing the different textures, colours, and sound of the Autumn leaves.

This week in Reception

We have had a busy week in Reception.

We are learning about the story of Owl Babies.  The children are learning to retell the story using a story map to help them.

We have learnt about where Owls live and went to the woods to make nests for the owls to live in using sticks, leaves and feathers.

Whilst we were in the woods we used our Space, Shape and Measure skills to look at the shapes and sizes of the different Autumn leaves.

In our Phonics work we have been learning new letters and sounds.  We have even been practicing writing the grapheme; s and a.

The Start of Year One…

Sorry it has taken a while, but here they are! Our first few weeks in Year 1…

There are still some parent consent forms that I am missing, so if you haven’t filled one in yet please call into the office or ask me for a new form and then I will make sure that there are pictures of your child on here too.

Romans everywhere!

The Helen O’Grady Drama Academy visited Year 4 to do some Roman drama.

We acted out a scene from the Celtic revolt led by Boudicca.

Can’t wait to show you the results in our assembly.

We made Roman bread too,

Using a clay oven just like the Romans.

 Mmmmm….

Year 4 Roman Experience

Year 4 went on a trip to the Dewa Roman Experience in Chester. We all dressed as Romans. Not only were our costumes a hit at the Dewa Center but many tourists stopped to take our photo as we marched through Chester. We looked  GOOD…

We carried our Marlfields Standard – just like the Romans of old.

Our commander was fierce!! And he had a big voice too! Watch out Mrs Barns!

We were fierce in our training session!

Look at us in formation!!

The traffic stopped as we marched ‘ Sin, sin, sin-dex, sin!’  What a great day.
