This week it is childhood mental health awareness week. We thought about how we have grown emotionally and who has helped us. We created a hot air balloon to show the support network we have around us.
Here are some examples.

Today in Class 4 we have celebrated Chinese New Year by enjoying some Chinese food. We made egg fried rice in groups and then were lucky enough to try some seaweed, prawn crackers and spring rolls.
Most children loved trying all of the food, some children were a little sceptical. Giulia even brought her own chop sticks in. What a super afternoon we have had.
In science last week in class 4 we were looking at tooth decay, we chose 6 different liquids to test using boiled eggs to see what damage they would cause to our teeth. We left the eggs in the liquids over the weekend and then relooked at the eggs.
We found that apple juice and orange juice caused the most damage, we were surprised that it wasn’t coke as that is fizzy, we have since discovered that apple juice is acidic which damages the enamel our teeth.
On Thursday year 3 and 4 took part in cross country at Eaton bank, they worked so well together as a team and did the school proud.
A lovely Christmas dinner in class 4.
This week we have sanded, painted and decorated our Christmas blocks. We love all of the designs. Some children did an Eid celebration one.
Over the last couple of weeks we have been sewing our gingerbread house Christmas decoration, don’t they look great?
Year 4 are feeling festive today in their Christmas jumpers. All of the children look great.
In class 4 we have been feeling very Christmassy! The day started with Mrs Isherwood giving us all a brand new Christmas pencil. This afternoon we have decorated our class Christmas tree, finished our class gingerbread house and started sewing our annual Christmas tree decoration.
This week in Year 4 we have been investigating with different colours. The children had a great time and the finished wheels looked amazing.
Our theme this week for anti-buillying week has been ‘One kind word’. All week the children have thought about what kindness means and how we can all be kind in different ways.
We have done a kindness award too in each class. The children in Class 4 voted and the winner by 10 votes was Scarlett. Me and Mrs Milroy are not surprised as she always comes into school with a smile on her face, trying her best and making sure that all of her friends are happy. We love having you in our class Scarlett.
To celebrate the end of anti-bullying week the children have come into school wearing something to make them smile.
In Science we have started looking at gases. We talked about how we can’t see all gases and we wondered how we could investigate what we can use them for.
We decided to take a kite onto the field to see if the air outside would help it to fly, we noticed that there is gaps at the top of the kite that let the air in and this then helps them to fly. We also noticed that the faster we ran the higher the kite went and the longer the kite stayed up. We then had some fun with the parachute, we couldn’t see the air but we knew that the air was underneath the parachute when we had lifted it because the shape changed into a dome.
To launch anti-bullying week on Monday the children and staff came into school wearing odd socks, this is to show that we are all unique. Don’t we look great?
