Today we have taken part in a workshop with Autumn from West End in Schools. Autumn has starred on the West End in many shows. Our session was based on the story of The Iron Man. We used dance to retell the story, using different moves and facial expressions to depict the story from the Iron Man falling apart to his victory over the Space-bat-angel dragon. It was a really enjoyable session finishing with a performance of the dance in full.

Today, Year 4 were given the opportunity to work with West End in Schools to perform the story of The Iron Man.

The children started with a warm up to get our bodies. We then recapped the story of The Iron Man.

The children then danced and role played to the story from the beginning where The Iron Man fell apart, the farmer being angry and digging the hole to trap The Iron Man.
The next part of the story the children then moved to the battle between The Iron Man and the Giant Space Bat Dragon.
The final part depicted the victory of The Iron Man and saving the whole world.

The children wish to send a huge thank you to Mrs Isherwood for arranging our experience and West End in Schools for helping teach us to perform on of our favourite stories.

Children in Year 2 recreated the story as a dance !

Today our class had a workshop to use our drama skills to bring the story to life. We read Iron Man last term as part of our Pathways and the children really enjoyed learning these new skills.

Today we had a surprise visit from Mrs Pearce who announced that in our whole school TTRockstars we have won a number of certificates.
Jeremiah has won 3rd place this week for improvement in accuracy, Annisha was 3rd in the biggest increase in correct answers with Ismail coming in 2nd place for biggest increase in correct answers.

Finally Layla was awarded a certificate for being the fastest rockstar in the school.

A huge congratulations goes out to all of the children, well done.

This morning, ahead of parent’s meetings next week, parents were invited into school to look at their child’s books. It was lovely to see so many come in to share the progress in all areas of the curriculum.

Year 5 were given a homework task over 1/2 term to create a biome. Dylan and Esmé made Tundra biomes, whilst Reggie made a tropical rainforest, complete with a knitted sloth and snake. Both Ethan and Kyran used live plants to create theirs. They all look amazing and really extended their Geographical understanding.

On Thursday afternoon a group of 12 children from year 3 and 4 went to Eaton Bank for an athletics competition against other Congleton schools. They all really enjoyed themselves, the girls managed to come second and the boys came fourth.

In PE today we learnt some skills for tag rugby. Firstly we passed a ball round a circle shouting a name just before we threw the ball. Then we passed a rugby ball across a circle, counting down from 10, whoever got the ball last lost a point.

Year 6 had a brilliant morning finishing their Gymnastics unit. They put together a variety of sequences using the knowledge and skills they have gained over the past 6 weeks (and really enjoyed trying to get some action shots)!

Last night the Year 5 and 6 boys battled it out against other Congleton schools. The first match was St Mary’s Vs Marlfields. It was a strong start with a score scored from Marfields but from nowhere two goals were scored against us. The next match was against Buglawton and with our team working together and scoring some excellent goals we won 2:0. Our final match was against Quinta and although the boys worked extremely hard Quinta won 3:1. Well done boys you did us all proud!

Today Year 1 made their own cucumber and mint raita dip! They used their cutting skills to cut the vegetables and evaluated their dips at the end.

This week the children conducted an experiment looking at which material was the most absorbent. The children decided that fabric is the best material to soak up any spillages!

This week Year 2 pupils used their historical research about the history of transport to create short movies!
