A fantastic party for our Year 6 leavers. A great time was had by all, children and adults.

An amazing performance by our wonderful year 6’s. They really are a SUPER bunch.

Year 5 spent this morning in the forest playing hide and seek, building dens and getting stung by nettles!

A number of the children in the school have been taking guitar and ukulele lessons each Friday. After a year of playing and practice they have put together a performance for the school and the parents. Thank you so much to Jake the music teacher.

Today concluded our year 2 programming lesson with a retelling of ‘The Three Little Pigs’.

The children used all of their skills to program different sprites to retell the story.

This week, Year 3 had the pleasure of watching Year 4 perform with their instruments. A great performance Year 4. After this, Year 3 then had the opportunity to practice trying the instruments to decide which ones they may want to play next year.

This afternoon Foundation Stage 2 had visitors from 2 of our local churches. They introduced the story of The Lost Sheep with the children by finding a lost teddy bear. The children enjoyed listening to the story of The Lost Sheep from the Bible followed by some lovely crafts.

Year 5 and 6 had a great time sliding, swinging, climbing and zip-lining through the day. Mrs Pearce and Miss Jackson tried to lose us in the maze but we just kept turning left until we were free!

This year the children in Marlfields have worked very hard on their paintings following the theme 2050. Two representatives from the Rotary club came in to award the children for their fantastic efforts and every child who participated was awarded with a certificate. Three pieces were chosen and were given a very exciting art prize. Thank you Rotary club for another fantastic competition and we look forward to seeing what next years will bring!

Four Year 5 children took part in the Chrystal Maze challenge at Eaton Bank today. Their first task was a maths challenge to build the tallest and strongest tower to survive an earthquake, using marshmallows and spaghetti. Next they had to search for definitions in a dictionary. They then had a Science challenge in the brand new Science labs, using microscopes to identify different parts of insects. They also had to design and fly a paper aeroplane the furthest distance. Finally, they had to collect red, gold and black crystals worth different amounts to score the most points.

And the winners were…MARLFIELDS!!!

Today, Year 3 explored how our shadows change depending on where the sun is in the sky. We drew round our shadows in the morning and were very excited when we came back out in the afternoon and our shadows had completely changed position.

Early Years had a great time on Friday when they went to Peak Wildlife. The children loved learning about the different animals and getting up close to some of the animals.

Today Mrs Isherwood very kindly took us all to BeWILDerwood to have fun and explore. Year 3 went round with Year 1 and thoroughly enjoyed adventuring up the ropes and zooming down the slides.
