A week in Year 2
Story time with a twist
When Year 2 had their story time before lunch, Reyah and Pippa asked if they could be the ones to deliver the story, they did a fantastic job! Their reading was lovely and fluent even when it came to trickier words – well done girls, excellent reading!
World Book Day in Year 2
We started the week with a workshop inspired by the story ‘The Enormous Crocodile’. The children completed a dance and a freeze frame to retell the story.
Today the children have come into school dressed up as different characters!
Year 2
This week Year 2 have been looking at information texts and their key features. The children have worked together using laptops and non-fiction texts to gather information ready for them to write their own information leaflets.
Lego London landmarks.
Yesterday, Marlfields Primary Academy had a visit from a Lego workshop. Year 2 ,supported by their year 6 friends, had a brilliant time making London landmarks with the Lego bricks. The models they made were fantastic. Have a look, can you recognise these famous landmarks?

Tuesday Afternoon in Year 2
This afternoon Year 2 have been busy in their computing and art sessions.
The children began the afternoon working on their copy and paste skills on the laptop creating their very own poetry books using poetry from the internet.
The children then continued their artwork on the Mona Lisa. They used watercolours to mix and blend to create their own backgrounds.

Picture Frames in Year 2
Year 2 have been very busy making their own picture frames. We firstly looked at what makes a good picture frame. We decided that our frames needed to be made from wood so that they would be strong, and we would use glue to join them. The children then created their own picture frames and painted them!

William Morris Inspired Prints
Year 2 have been busy looking at the artwork of William Morris. We looked at what influenced his art and what colours he had included. The children then created a plan of their prints which they then created using a printing tile and paint!
Shoebox Habitat
Year 2 have been looking at different habitats and comparing them from all over the world. The children have created their own diorama for a mixture of different animals. They look fantastic!
