In Nursery we have made lots of lovely Easter treats. We began by making Easter nests by breaking the chocolate and then mixing in the cornflakes. We then carefully spooned the mixture into the cake cases and sprinkled chocolate over the top. The children then used the left over chocolate to create Easter shaped treats.
Today Nursery have enjoyed visiting people who help us. We went to see the firefighters at the fire station and saw the fire engine. We learnt about what the firefighters have to wear when there is a fire and we even got to fire the water. We then walked sensibly back to school to enjoy our healthy snack!
All week Nursery have been planting their own flowers. We talked about what a flower needs to grow- sunshine, water and soil. The children then decorated their own plant pots and planted their flower.
Nursery have also spent today looking at the story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. We listened to the story and then discussed what food the caterpillar ate in the story. We looked at an apple and a pear and described what they felt like and the colours we could see. After that, we printed pictures of butterflies using the fruit and even made fruit kebabs!
Yesterday, Nursery had a very exciting visitor. As we are looking at people who help us for our current topic Congleton Police came to see us. They talked about what uniform they have to wear and why, What they do within the local community and even let us try on some of the police uniform. After all that excitement Nursery were able to sit in the police car and turn on the siren.
After that we made our very own pancakes! We discussed that an oven is hot and how to be careful in a kitchen. Once we had made our pancakes we picked what healthy toppings we wanted.
Today Nursery enjoyed practicing our passing, throwing and kicking skills on an obstacle course.
We all had a go at throwing bean bags in the air and kicking large balls.
Today in Nursery we decided we wanted to make heart shaped biscuits. We talked about who we were making our biscuits for. Using our FMS we stirred the mixture and pressed the cutter to create the shape.
Today we have been very busy in Nursery. Firstly, we heard the story about Smartie the penguin and talked about who we can see so that we are safe on the internet. We then coloured a picture of Smartie the penguin whilst discussing how to stay safe.
We then made red paper lanterns using our FMS for cutting and sticking. We discussed that this year was the year of the pig.
For our space topic in Nursery we have created a rocket. The children decided what they wanted the rocket to look like and what they wanted inside the rocket.
They have had lots of fun on their adventure to see the moon.
Nursery have been very busy this morning making pizzas in the shape of gingerbread men for our ‘Marvellous Me’ topic. We used tomato and herb pizza topping and cheese followed by chopped up peppers for the eyes, nose and mouth, one child even gave their gingerbread man eyebrows!
I am sure you’ll agree they look very tasty!
Today Nursery went on an exciting visit.
We went to Gruff Learning where we saw chickens, goats and an alpaca. We were able to feed the chickens and the goats and listen to the sounds they made.
We had lots of fun!
As we are currently enjoying our farmyard topic here in Nursery we decided that we wanted to make a scarecrow. We want the scarecrow to protect the lettuce we have planted.
We used a mixture of construction materials including sticks, newspaper and straw. The children picked all the clothes for our Scarecrow and decided where they wanted to place him in our outside area.
And the final product….
As we are now in Summer Nursery wanted to learn all about the other seasons. We talked about what we wear during the other seasons and what the weather looks like.
Nursery then created their very own seasonal pictures using lots of different materials and paints.
