SPORT RELIEF: Staff vs Pupils Charity Football Match

Last Friday, we held our Staff vs Pupils football matches, all in aid of Sport Relief. We had a fantastic turnout of players (both pupils and staff) and amazing support from pupil and parents.

We managed to raise just over £420!! Thank you so much for everyone’s support, it was a very enjoyable evening for staff and pupils alike (as well as lots of sore teachers over the weekend!)

Our Lighthouse Keeper’s Breakfast!

Class 2 had a great time sharing a wonderful breakfast (that they had made) with their parents this morning. Over the week, they have been busy making their very own lighthouses, baking breakfast muffins, flapjacks and scones and making lunch boxes, all linked to our text ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’. They loved sharing their great achievements with all the Mums, Dads and Grandparents.

Another great STEM Club

This week, the children in STEM Club became engineers! They had a challenge to see how tall they could make a structure using only dried spaghetti and marshmallows. We had great fun working out how to make our structures stronger and decided that Mia’s structure was the best!

Thumbs up Thursday

Class 2 had a fantastic time working with their Mums, Dads, brothers and Nans on their first CREST Award challenge this morning. They were testing materials to see which one kept the mouse warm! We had a fantastic time. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came in and joinedthe fun!

A cracking start to our CREST Awards

Class 2 have started their quest to achieving their very own CREST Award. They have completed 4 challenges today and have 4 to go! Today’s challenges included making bubbles of different sizes, shape and colour, washing dirty laundry and fixing a broken umbrella using waterproof material. They can’t wait to see what Cosmic, Gem and Aunt Stella want them to investigate next!

Class 2 at MOSI

Class 2 have had a great time at The Museum of Science and Industry today. We took part in lots of Science investigations, learnt about robots and discovered aircraft, old and new! We were SUPER excited when we saw a Red Arrow, as we have been learning about these in our topic!! Well done boys and girls, you made Marlfields very proud!!

Super Science Week

Wow, what a way to start Science Week! Mrs Abraham introduced STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) through some exciting investigations. We found out all about the fabulous activities and challenges that will be taking place over the week. We will be having a Celebration Assembly on Friday at 2.30pm where members of each class will explain what they have taken part in and learnt over the week. Please come and join us in assembly on Friday, to find out what we have all done!

Electrifying materials!

This week Class 2 have been learning about Thomas Edison and his invention – the light bulb. In Science, we used our new found knowledge to help us identify and sort materials into conducting and non-conducting materials. We had great fun using circuits to do this. Have a look at us investigating lots of different materials.

A fantastic start back to school for class 2!

Since we have returned to school after a lovely Christmas break, we have been working our socks off! Over the last couple of weeks we have been looking at Leonardo da Vinci. Did you know he was not only an artist but a Scientist, a Sculptor, a Mathematician and an Inventor? We have painted our own versions of Mona Lisa, invented our own parachutes and used digital cameras to take photos of our own Vitruvian Man.
