Friday Footsteps!
This week in Early Years it was our first Friday Footstep Walk. The children have enjoyed the story of Rosie’s Walk this week in class and made story maps to help them retell the story in the correct order. Rosie went for a walk on a farm and used lots of positional language, we went on a walk in our town to see what positional language we could use.
Year 4 Science – Food Chains
This week the children have been using their knowledge of Carnivores (animals whose diet consists of meat), Herbivores (animals whose diet consists of only plants) and Omnivores (animals whose diet consists of both meat and plants).
We have looked at which animals get energy from plants or animals and how plants are producers who produce their own energy from the sun.
Having their own part of a food chain the children were asked to find where they would fit in a number of different chains, thinking if they were a producer or a consumer.
We then went back to our books to complete our own food chains showing the transfer of energy from one source to the next.
Cricket
This week we have started cricket, the children had a range of activities to complete including, throwing to a target, balancing and other games to develop our listening and teamwork skills.
Computing
In computing this half term the children are going to be applying programming skills to create skills and melodies leading to a battle of the bands performance.
Making catapults
As part of our forces unit in science the children use a simple lever machine to make their own catapults.
