Reading Challenge

This week we had a special visit from Congleton Library, the children were told all about this year’s reading challenge. You need to read 6 books then you can win a voucher for the new leisure centre, medal and certificate.

Year 4 – Debate a classic tale

Today the children in Year 4 took a classic tale and discussed their thoughts and feelings about who in the tale was right and who may have been in the wrong.
After a quick dramatisation of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ we then thought about who was actually right. Was it the three pigs or was in fact the wolf. The children then had to choose a point of view they agreed with.

Team Pig vs Team Wolf.

After some wonderful arguments for and against each of the characters the children then got a chance to persuade each other to join the opposite team.

After our hearty debate a number of children were then persuaded to go to the opposite team.

In the end most people change their thoughts and ideas and the wolf was deemed to be in the right. However, will things change next time when more evidence presents itself to the class.

Marlfields go to Town Sports

This evening the children from Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 went to participate and show off their sporting skills at Town Sports against the other schools of Congleton. After a quick warm up from our volunteer sport parents the children were soon ready to get started. Everyone performed to their absolute best and we at Malrfields are so incredibly proud of everyone for their participation and effort. There were even some medals for a few of our amazing athletes.
Thank you to all the parents who came to cheer the children on and a huge thank you to all the staff who were able to help make the evening an amazing time for all. A special thank you goes to Mrs Radcliffe for organising everything for this amazing evening, everyone has had an amazing time.
