Woodland Wednesday

Yesterday, Nursery used their maps to help them navigate their way around the forest. They found all the hidden animals from our talk for write story by using their super eyes and team work.

Once we had followed our maps and found all our animals we listened to story ‘What a Ladybird Heard’ making sure we asked lots of questions!

The Royal Baby…

Yesterday, Year One took on the role of news reporters. We began by watching Prince William and Princess Kate’s exit from the hospital, as well as the visit by the Royal couple’s other children. We then discussed the setting and scene from what we had scene, generating a list of useful words and facts. All of us wrote our own version of events.

We also predicted baby names for the new prince and watched the salute to mark the prince’s birth live in the afternoon!

Junior Orchestra Assembly

Key Stage 2 were treated to an exciting assembly all about Congleton Junior Orchestra. We all took part in a game of Name that tune’ where we all were able to say what song each was and the instructors were ever so impressed by our musical knowledge.

There will be an open day from 10-12pm at Trinity Church on June 16th, where there will be games and opportunities to try out the different instruments.

Measurement

This week in Year One, we have been focusing on measurement. We have been using various resources to measure and compare length and height. We have also been measuring outside! We used metre sticks to measure a 10m track and then timed each other running the track.

Mark Making Madness

Today in Nursery we have been super busy!

Whilst listening to classical music we drew on a large piece of paper how it made us feel. We talked to our friends if the music made us feel sad, happy or even excited.

We also talked about what colour crayon we would like and also how we should be holding it.

After we had drawn what the music made us feel we had to use our listening ears to listen to the instructions Miss Langford gave us!

We drew big circles and zigzag lines.

Year One’s New Topic: Paws, Claws, Fins and Fingers

Yesterday, we spent the afternoon exploring our new topic which is all about animals. We discussed pets that we had and created bar charts to reflect pets in Year One. Those of us with pets completed a descriptive piece of writing about them. We also discussed what we would like to learn in the new topic and what we already know about animals. Some of us also had a go at sorting animals into groups.
