Eggciting Times!

On Monday in Foundation Stage we had a very special delivery….10 eggs to look after. The children talked about what animal could be in the egg…chicks, ducks, birds, crocodiles, dragons, or lizards. The children decided that they are chicken eggs.

The children set up an incubator in the classroom to keep the eggs warm like the ‘Mummy Hen’ would do. Now it is time to wait….

The children looked at all the equipment we would need to look after the chicks once they hatch.

What a fabulous day the Marlfield Muggles had!

We had visitors in school today for a fantastic house team event. First we met in the Great Hall where our visitor used the Sorting Hat to establish our house team leaders.
After this all the classes took part in a Quidditch contest. Pupils had great fun shooting goals and even catching the human snitch!
In class 3 we had a great time and won a bonus round! I’m sure you could hear the children’s cheers all over town!
Thank you for a wonderful day.

Year 4 Quidditch Day

Today we were given an amazing opportunity by the company Enrich who came into our school and taught us how to play Quidditch, made famous by the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling.

The children attended and assembly where they were assigned to the four different houses we then waited eagerly for our turn to learn and play this new and exciting game. Throughout the day we could win bonus house points for our teams in the rest of our school work.

The children went up onto the field and listened carefully to the instructions and how the game was to be played. One person was the keeper who was in charge of defending the three goals. One was the beater who was in charge of stopping players with the bludger. The rest of the children were chasers who would pass the quaffle between them and attempt to score goals. However, one person had a special job of being the seeker, their job was to get the golden snitch and win the team 50 bonus points.

The children had a fantastic time and they all got stuck in darting, diving, ducking and defending.

Well done year 4.

At the end of the day we all gathered in the hall once again to see which team would win the house cup.
We all waited eagerly and the winners were…

Hufflepuff (yellow team).

Congratulations and thank you to Mrs Isherwood for arranging such a wonderful experience.

Quidditch Fun

Today we were put into Harry Potter’s house teams and we learnt to play Quidditch. The children loved it and enjoyed the fast pace of the game. Lincoln caught the golden snitch for Slytherin which gained his team 50 points.

Ancient Greece

Today, in topic we learnt some more amazing facts about Ancient Greece. We showed the limited amounts of lands they had to grow crops, the advantages of having a long coastline, the results of having so many islands, because of the hot climate lots of time was spent outdoors and consequences of having such a mountainous land.

Cooking Club

This week we made omelette pizza, we all loved it! We cracked eggs and made an omelette, then we put tomato purée on, grated cheese and even pineapple ( controversial!) it was then cooked under the grill. Delicious!
