Science

On Friday afternoon, in science the children looked at a range of materials and made predictions about whether they thought they were magnetic, electrical conductors or metal/non mental.

Cricket

This week we have started cricket, the children had a range of activities to complete including, throwing to a target, balancing and other games to develop our listening and teamwork skills.

Live science lesson

This morning we were lucky enough to take part in a free live science lesson all about space. The children had a tour of a space centre and were taught lots of interesting facts. At the end the children could decorate their own planet however they liked, we think they turned out fantastic.

DT project

As part of our Viking topic the children have researched, designed, planned and made a Viking longboat. We think they look amazing and the children loved it making them in groups. This morning some year 2 children came into class 5 and Amelia and Kira told them all about their moving longboats.

Upthrust – Science

This afternoon year 5 have been investigating forces, in particular upthrust. The children had a range of items that they weighed as they are and then weighed in water to see what happened. The children found out that the objects weighed less in water due to the force upthrust. To finish off the children used plasticine to make into a boat to see if it could float.
