Today Year 1 looked at how to stay safe on the internet. The children then wrote their own booklets to let any visitors know how they can stay safe on the internet too!

Fruit Salad From Around the World
Class 1 made a fruit salad with fruits from around the world. The children firstly designed their own fruit salad. They then wrote a shopping list for all the fruits that they would need and which country those fruits have come from.
The children then used their cutting and peeling skills to create their fruit salad.
Year 1 then tasted their fruit salad and we discussed if they enjoyed it or not. The children then wrote their opinions down explaining if they liked it or not and why.
Computing in Year 1
Year 1 made a design for a rocket on the laptops. They worked on their mouse and keyboard skills to create their design.
Year 1 Learning about Rangoli Patterns!
Christmas Jumper Day!
Year 1 have come into school with their Christmas jumpers today! They all look wonderful.
A Week of Kindness in Year 1!
To start anti-bullying week on Monday the children and staff came into school wearing odd socks to represent everyone being unique!
To finish the week the children have come into school wearing something that makes them smile.
Maths Week in Year 1
This week in Year 1 we have been looking at bar models. We have also been using our rekenreks to support our learning in our power maths sessions!
Autumn Nature Walk!
Year 1 had lots of fun looking around the school grounds and in the forest learning about Autumn. We went on a scavenger hunt to observe the changes in the season.
Year 1 Pumpkin!
Year 1 had a great time creating a spaceship from the pumpkin that we received from the allotment!
We looked at the spaceship in our story ‘Toys in Space’ and created the features of a spaceship from cardboard and tin foil.
Year 1 Making a Hoctopize!
We have been reading a brilliant book called ‘Toys in Space’ by Mini Grey.
One of the characters in the story is a Hoctopize so we made one of our very own!
We had lots of fun making one and then we wrote our own instructions on how we did it.
Year 1 Science Day
On Wednesday Year 1 explored the 5 senses. We started the day with a listening walk around the school grounds. The children heard lots of different sounds.
We then explored the senses taste, touch, sight and smell.
DT Day in Year 1
On Wednesday Year 1 had a DT day learning all about moving pictures. We started our day by looking at books that moved.
We then looked at different mechanisms and created a sliding picture of the gingerbread man. The children had to work on their cutting, sticking and joining skills to create the picture.
We then looked at how to create a lever to make a moving picture from the story Jack and the beanstalk. We used split-pins to create the pivot and joined the lever to the beanstalk.
Football in Year 1!
Yesterday the children could come into school in the colours red, white and blue to support the England team.
In our PE lesson we then concentrated on the skills you need to play a game of football. We worked on our dribbling skills, shooting skills and our passing skills.
Our Year in Year 1
Year 1 have worked very hard this year. We have created a celebration display to look at all our work throughout the year. Well done on working so hard and I am very proud of you all!
Labelling A Plant
This half term Year 1 have been learning all about plants. Yesterday we looked at a flower in detail and talked about the different parts of a flower. We labelled a diagram and then printed a picture of a flower using the different parts of the plant. At the end of the session the children could confidently tell me each part of the plant and what it does.
