Year 1 are having great fun joining in with the Music Trust workshop. We created our own pictures using Chrome music lab and then learnt all about how to change the sounds and colours.

Year 1 have been busy learning all about materials. Yesterday we went on a material hunt to see which materials we could find in the outside environment. We then created a tally chart to show our findings and wrote down which material we found the most of and which we found the least of. We compared our findings and found that the most common material is metal and plastic.

Today EYFS and Year 1 had lots of fun in the snow. We have been busy making snowmen and an igloo!

Year 1 have been looking at the seasons this half term and how the length of the day can change depending on what season we are in. We went on a shadow hunt and then looked at light and day around the world. The children then created their own shadow puppets!

This half term the whole school have taken part in the ‘Light of Hope’ project. The children had to create a tealight holder and decorate them with words of hope. The display looked fantastic last night!

Year 1 have been busy making planets out of clay. We first looked at the shape and then we focused on the colours of each planet. The children then picked a planet and used different techniques to make their own.

What a special day we have had today playing on the field, measuring our height for the last day in Year 1 and having a lovely ice cream on the big playground.

This afternoon Year 1 have identified many of the different trees in our forest by looking at the leaves. They then explored the forest and had lots of fun!

Year 1 have been busy this week investigating dinosaurs. We found an egg in the woods on Tuesday hidden away, wrote diary entries about the egg and today we have made dinosaur poo! We looked at the diets of different dinosaurs and what herbivores, carnivores and omnivores ate. We then made our poo for each diet type.

Today Year 1 started the day by writing silly sentences all about dinosaurs making sure they included verbs. Later that day we discussed how dinosaurs move and the children then created their own dances moving like a dinosaur.
