In Class 2 we have been exploring some of the ways we learn about the past. Our history lessons have taken us back millions of years. This week we found out about the life of Mary Anning, a fossil hunter – palaeontologist!
We recreated fossil formation with a loaf of bread and jelly sweets…. Take a look! Can you guess what the mysterious creatures are?
At swimming, the children in Year 3 were asked to draw a frieze of things they saw at swimming. It looks so colourful we decided to put it up in class!
Today we followed instructions to make a woolly mammoth! We learnt that imperative verbs are bossy and we cut, created, attached and completed until we made our mammoths!
On Thursday all the children and some of the grown ups dressed in their pyjamas to raise money for MacMillan charity. They all paid £1 to wear pyjamas and they could also pay to have breakfast and then pay for cakes at break!!
Year 3 are going to work in groups with Kelly the Cook. Each week some of us will make something yummy.
Last week the Class voted for School Councillors, Freddie and Lily were chosen. Our new Eco Councillors are Porscha and Olly.
Today in Maths we used Dienes to make numbers in different ways.
In Sciemce today we went outside and collected lots of different natural objects on the school playground+ Miss Trussler found some too.
We had lots of fun in our new class today, one of the things we did was a Scavenger Hunt. We had to find lots of things in the classroom.
Today some of our lucky Year 5s went to Eaton Bank for the Crystal Maze experience. They were asked to complete challenges using all of their abilities from problem solving, scientific enquiry and even our physical skills.
They had an amazing time and have worked wonderfully including winning the Science task. Just like the real game the children had to then collect token from around the space.
Over the past few weeks the children of Year 3, and a few Year 5 children, have been practicing a dance routine based on the theme of swimming. The children had previously been out to perform their dance with other schools. Toady our parents were invited to come and watch our amazing performance alongside the rest of the school. Thank you to the dance instructors for helping us learn the steps. We have all had a splashing time.
Today Rob and Jo from Congleton Rotary Club visited with our special certificates for our entries into the Kings and Queens portrait competition. The children were delighted with their awards.
We completed our session by creating some sunglasses 😎
